Nicola Zumsteg (Team Biesse Carrera Premac) conquers Monte Grappa aboard the Carrera SL AIR PRO
New success for Team Biesse Carrera Premac, as Swiss rider Nicola Zumsteg claimed a solo victory at the Bassano–Monte Grappa, one of the most prestigious races for Elite and Under-23 riders.
For the Brescia-based Continental team, it marks the third victory of the season, following Ilya Slesarenko’s Belarusian National Time Trial Championship title and Filippo Agostinacchio’s Italian Gravel Championship victory.
Zumsteg confirmed his strong connection with the roads of the Vicenza area, where he also won the Zanè–Monte Cengio last season. Once again, he made the difference on the slopes of Monte Grappa, gradually distancing his rivals before crossing the finish line alone ahead of Jacopo Pignatti (Padovani Polo Cherry Bank) and Riccardo Drei (Beltrami TSA La Risorsa Umana).
The victory made the day even more special for Team Biesse Carrera Premac President Simone Boifava, who was celebrating his birthday.
Team Director Dario Nicoletti praised the entire squad’s performance:
“We raced entirely for Nicola. The team did a fantastic job on the flat sections, led by Giacomo Villa’s experience, allowing him to start the climb in the best possible position. When he attacked around eight kilometres from the finish, I knew he was feeling strong, although I advised him to wait a little longer. He managed the finale perfectly, attacking at exactly the right moment to secure a victory that gives confidence to the whole team.”
The winner was equally delighted:
“I’m really happy. This is my first victory with Team Biesse Carrera Premac and it means a lot to me. It comes after a difficult period, which makes it even more special. These roads seem to suit me—I won here last year as well, so I’m thrilled to do it again. During the race I realised I had great legs and started believing this could be my day. I dedicate this victory to my family and to everyone who has supported me through the difficult moments.”
Nicola Zumsteg’s victory confirms the excellent form of Team Biesse Carrera Premac, which continues to collect important results and heads into the second half of the season with growing confidence.
