Carrera One-Two at the Giro del Piave: Michele Bicelli Wins, Nicola Zumsteg Takes Second

A perfect start to the weekend for Team Biesse Carrera Premac, which secured an outstanding one-two finish at the Giro del Piave, an Elite and Under-23 race held on October 10, 2026, in the province of Belluno.

The Brescia-based Continental team, led by Sports Director Dario Nicoletti, dominated the race, claiming the top two places on the podium. Michele Bicelli crossed the finish line alone to take victory ahead of teammate Nicola Zumsteg.

Jacopo Pignatti of SC Padovani completed the podium, while another Team Biesse Carrera Premac rider, Nicholas Travella, finished seventh.

A One-Two Finish Built on Teamwork

The victory came at the end of a demanding race, marked by a challenging course and difficult weather conditions.

Team Biesse Carrera Premac controlled the opening 80 kilometres, allowing its climbers to approach the final 50 kilometres, featuring several demanding climbs, in the best possible position.
With around 30 kilometres remaining, heavy rain and temperatures close to 10°C made the race even more challenging.

Sports Director Dario Nicoletti commented:

“We knew our two climbers were in excellent form, but all their teammates also did a fantastic job controlling the first 80 kilometres, putting Michele and Nicola in the best possible position for the final 50 kilometres, where the race became very demanding with some tough climbs.
Things got a little more complicated with 30 kilometres to go, when heavy rain started and temperatures dropped to around 10°C. Both riders tend to struggle a little in these conditions, but they managed the cold well and didn’t let anything intimidate them. They worked together effectively in the final stages, staying with the leading group and bringing home the victory.”

Michele Bicelli Returns to Victory After More Than Two Years

For Michele Bicelli, the Brescia-born rider born in 2006, victory at the Giro del Piave represents a particularly meaningful achievement.

His previous victory dated back to June 2, 2024, when he won the final stage of the Giro del Friuli as a Junior.
More than two years later, Bicelli returned to the top step of the podium, claiming his first career victory in the Under-23 category.

The result is even more significant considering the challenges he faced during the 2026 season. In late May, a serious crash during training prevented him from competing in the Giro Next Gen, making his racing season particularly difficult.

His Giro del Piave victory therefore crowns an impressive return to form in the closing stages of the season.

“We raced really well as a team. The finale wasn’t easy: it was cold and the descent was tricky, but I felt good and this victory was the perfect way to round off a strong end to the season.
After what happened in May, this result was far from guaranteed. I’m very happy and extremely grateful to the team for all their support.”

Nicola Zumsteg Takes Second: Another Strong Result for Carrera

Completing the one-two finish was Nicola Zumsteg, the Swiss rider from Team Biesse Carrera Premac, who claimed second place and confirmed the excellent form he had shown in recent races.

Both riders had recently competed at the European Championships in Slovenia, gaining further experience on the international stage.

Zumsteg expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and his teammate’s victory:

“I’m very happy with this team result, especially because Michele took the win. He truly deserves it, both for his performances and after the bad luck he had with his injury.
Unfortunately, I didn’t feel great at the European Championships, so I’m happy to have found my form again and to have helped put the finishing touch on this team success.”

A Memorable Giro del Piave for Team Biesse Carrera Premac

Michele Bicelli’s victory, Nicola Zumsteg’s second place and Nicholas Travella’s seventh-place finish highlight Team Biesse Carrera Premac’s excellent form.

With three riders in the top ten and a one-two finish on the podium, the Brescia-based Continental team achieved an important result that rewards the hard work carried out throughout the season.

A memorable day that celebrates the riders’ determination and the efforts of the entire team.
